But thank you Psycho for running the game and keeping town guessing to the end. It helps when you're on the winning team of course.

The big question is, does Windward's will clear or convict MTR?
I think I know which way I lean.

I know jarrod is purple XD and he's done nothing I see as anti-town.
Well, quite. I'd just like Jarrods take on it so there's no nasty sting in the tail following a town win.
  5. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

    Don't make me :squint: you.

A little thought experiment Jarrod. If you weren't purple, who would you say is acting most purple, and are their intentions pure for town? I'm leaning into the meta here, and although ultimately Sega screwed Sega, Sony and the Playstation did not help things along, especially with the $299 reveal as seen N2
  6. Dreyski

    2. Claws - Super Mario 64 (Mafia Killer)
    6. FutureHold - Koji Kondo (Mafia Genius)
    9. Blind Ninja - Hiroshi Yamauchi (Mafia Manipulator)

    That leaves
    Shigeru Miyamoto
    Satoru Iwata
    Shigesato Ito

We've only seen Iwata and Itoi once each. I wonder if that is a sort of scum joat. Different characters for different effects.

That would be a sound argument. I think six mafiosi would be inbalanced, especially since town has been kind of underpowered this game. Given that only Miyamoto acted last night, I have to apply Occam's razor, where the simplest explanation is the most valid:

If Matt/Wind is scum, then a Badger kill seems like an odd choice given the push Matt was making on Badger. Lends some credence to Wind’s take that he was just confused about the results.
Is that what they want you to think though? Wind/Matt didn't carry out the kill, Myamoto might have gone into business for themselves.
  9. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

That's hard info on Wind Drey?

    Maybe he's godfather Miyamoto?
About as hard as we're going to get this game (not many investigative roles, it seems). And regardless of four or five mafia, he can't be purple.
  10. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

Okay, humble pie for me, you were right on BN.
And for some news, If we're dealing with a four person mafia. Windward is green. In a five-strong team, all bets are off.

My guess is town searcher is a neighbouriser and he might have been recruiting (in a good way).
Thats was my thought as well. I remember seeing it in Justice League 2 (the Shazam kids) and Cheers (Norm/Norm's wife) but it's not exactly common. If CWE's will doesn't tell us anything, who could Sonic & Knuckles have been searching for?
  13. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

Are we dealing with a four, or five, strong mafia? I've gone through the writeups and Miyamoto is a lock. Active in the intro, every night (n2 might be flavour) and twilight N2.
As for the other candidates, there's:
    Yamauchi (intro & n2)
    Iwata (n2)
    Itoi (n3)
There are other names mentioned in red (Kirby, Earthbound), but my theory is that these are powers/effects.

What bearing does this have on the game? Assuming Nightingale is right about Matthieu (and I will wait to see if he gets modkilled), we're down to either one or two scum, and our neutral faction. I may have to walk back on BN based on the flavour round Koji's N3 action.

The Matthieu plan backfired so looks like a plan B.

He has completely ignored Mazer BN info.
Right. I may as well not submit night actions then.
  16. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

Am I incorrect in thinking you see who you targeted in the actual write up? I really do not think that is how psycho is doing this - that would be like having a bunch of cops. Every player who did an action could look to see what character they are shown interacting with potentially. Logic says that's extremely unlikely
It's a new writeup concept to me. I've got to take it at face value, otherwise I learn nothing from it.
  17. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

And drey, I assume you think seeing another green character in your paragraph means that is who you targeted. I am fairly confident that is not the case.
Well, the day may come where Blind Ninja gets yeeted. Without further info, I won't be on that train.
  18. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

    Claws was confirmed Red.

Am I like Snoop Dogg now needing a blunt?
EBWOP woah woah, you mentioned you being red?

Though it seems I've hit a nerve...
  19. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

Drey... I pushed my sus of claws all of day 2 and managed - barely - to get him yeeted instead of you... which should he decent evidence I'm not red. I am claiming deets on badger as town. There has only ever been one purple action and that player is jarrod - if you look up not long ago he said I had a wonderful breakdown of the players.

I'm not sure what you are interpreting, but I am like 99% positive BN is red - not just because by process of elimination, but because of how he behaved during the claws yeet. He kept coming up with arguments not to vote claws, despite saying he thought you were both town and it was just a bad choice -- and then right at the end when it looked like it *might* have swung your way he showed back up and voted on you even though he'd said he was content having no vote.

He almost got yeeted yesterday, and then with only a couple of hours left all votes dropped off of him - to which he showed zero surprise - and instead of going back to the other suspect that he had said he was willing to yeet - future - he taunted badger about moving his vote somewhere else. And again, I have deets badger is town.
Yes, you leaned on claws and I'm grateful for the assist, and I respect the hell out of your skill (and persuasion) as a player, For the record, I think neither you or Badger are red.
But if you trust your dees, why shouldn't I trust mine?
  20. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

    EBWOP times 2 @Dreyski

You never answered my question why you think BN was town and why Mazer got it wrong.
Well I'd rather not pull a Badger and get modkilled. Read the writeup for N3. Or get me killed and see my will. Whatever works for you.
  21. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

I know I may not have room to speak given last phase which Dreyski knows but this is setting off a couple of alarm bells in my mind. I will allow for misread.

    1. Foxxi instrumental in yeeting confirmed Red Claws who Gifed everyone except me in goodbye post. He did that deliberately to plant seeds.

    2. You really think a scum Foxxi would push this hard when she could have hung me? Re-read again really close what she says..
    Woah, woah, who mentioned red?
  22. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

You think confirmed town Mazer got it wrong? He’s usually sharp so very curious if you wish to elaborate.
Well it wouldn't be the first time someone got a call wrong this game...

That said, everyone gets reads wrong at some point. We don't yeet them for it. Despite this, Nightingale's defence of you was so vehement that I'm wondering if you two are in cahoots.
And to answer the last part of your statement, I can't really elaborate, but I think I've a better handle on how Psycho is doing his write-ups than I initially did. Not going to discount shenanigans, but taken at face value, I stand by what I said.
  23. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

    DAY TWO

    Vote Count
6 - Claws (Nightingale, Peter Griffin, Dreyski, Val, Badger, CWE)
4 - Dreyski (Claws, Jarrod1983, Blind Ninja, Tildey)

Not Voting: FutureHold, GrumpyCat, Insaner, LemonDemonGirl, Matthieu, Mazer, MTR
End of play yesterday. Now I'm not naive to think all the people on my train were scum, or claws' train are town. But I'm wondering when scum decided to let claws hang, because two more votes would have tied, or one person jumping from claws to me. That latter fact leaves me happy with the people on claws' train, who, in other cicumstances could have worked with a confederate nonvoter and a flimsy justification to jump trains leaving me in deadchat.
On my train, BN and Jarrod both were quick to admit to Nightingale that their reads on Claws were wrong, as was my initial judgement. Claws obviously is dead red, and that leaves Tildey, who I don't think has popped in this day phase (I'm not sure, worth an ISO)
On the nonvoters, I'm struggling to remember who voted and unvoted as a safety mechanism, but who might have got me yeeted if the results were closer? I get townier feels on Insaner, LDG and Matthieu.

Which leaves my choices on Tildey, Future, GrumpyCat, Mazer and MTR. More to come.
  30. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

That sounds about right, the Thunderdome appears to be Void, initiated on his death, and that in no way clears me (I don’t think scum would pick two of their own to choose from.
So that’s a little frustrating, because I am town, but I’ll take a deeper look this evening.

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

I know we're forcing things do to having 2 people we're forced to, but is it a big deal that dreyski hasn't had an original read on day 2 with a small number of things to interact with?

Even more so on day 1

    Dreyski is neutral to me.

But there's an argument to be made that if you're neutral on both, claws is the more active player
volume is not equivalent to content (acknowleging Claws is hamstrung) and you should know my posting style better than some on here.
  33. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

Thats wierd. Why wouldn't it show? Did it work? Got any feedback?
In order (and trying not to get modkilled):
No idea, but would assume it's one of Psycho's anti-sheeting techniques. Maybe there's a character that obscures some night moves.
I was told my action was successful.

I'd rather not have people see my will to prove it, but that's out of my hands.

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

    Living Players
    1. MTR - Not got much of note from the house of MTR so far.
    2. Mazer - apart from 1950's dad RP, not got much from him. Maybe worth vetting.
    3. Val the Moofia Boss - maybe two posts so far this game? NAI, if my memory is correct.
    4. Badger - normally he gets hit with the gifs so probably breathing a sigh of relief. Interaction with Jarrod is typical of them and again, NAI
    5. CWE - Getting a town feel
    6. Matthieu - Voting sleep D1 is normal for him, changing vote to Future is not. One to watch?
    7. Jarrod1983 - See second half of Badger post. My sus of him D1 was tongue in cheek
    8. LemonDemonGirl - Derpy town play, aggressive responses last seen as scum. Could swing either way
    9. Tildey - See MTR
    10. Nightingale - Talkative, I instinctively want to townread her but have been fooled before
    11. Peter Griffin - Nothing outside his MO (voting Badger and keeping quiet), is probably town getting his actions in at night.
    12. Dreyski - Is town, acted last night (not shown in writeup AFAIK)
    13. Blind Ninja - pushing PG and LDG for opinions, but not Val? Seems keen to solve, so more town than not.
    15. GrumpyCat - unsure RN. Who was GC before sock mafia?
    16. FutureHold - See MTR, but also observed an idea to leave him be after a rouugh couple of games. Mafia don't work that way.
    17. Insaner - Typically aggressive play =/= scum, but if you're fishing, you got a bite. Well played sir
    18. Claws - I said he feels townie, but like Nightingale, difficult to get an accurate read. Maybe worth checking out if get yeeted.
  35. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

I'm not a fan of Dreyski saying his scum reads would be the other people on the Void's train tbf.

You asked him what his scum reads would be, and he named two people others have said must contain scum due to some arbitrary rule. Ha have an answer that is not his own - kind of what you are accusing Claws of doing, except actually true.

Dreyski has not expressed an original read this game.

Claws has expressed a read and was passionate about it. Foxxi's says he didn't actually mean it because uhh reasons lol
Get out of here with that shit. You know, it is possible for two people to have the same opinion or come to the same conclusions.
What's more likely, scum being on VK's train to help the misyeet or the train being 100% town? Nobody knew about the Thunderdome at that time. Give me a minute and i'll give you some orignal reads.
  36. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

    Maybe a modified vengeful role?
  37. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

Also drey... your read is kinda backwards. D1 is the day I would expect scum claws to push something like that because - as shown by the fact I seem to be the only one who's taking any issue with how he handled Void - most folks aren't going to condemn someone for being wrong D1. And if I thought Claws had a genuine scum read on Void I'd probably be in the same camp Insaner is right now because, yup... being wrong as town happens.

The issue I have is I don't believe Claws actually thought Void was suspicious. I think he wanted to try to force a yeet on him D1 because that was literally the only time a town Void *might* have gotten yeeted. And whileI kinda think a town Claws would still do that for the lulz of seeing Void be yeeted D1 - I *don't* think a town claws would have pussy footed around with his vote for it.
I refer you to the answer I gave previously (specifically the second line). I see Claws as Chaotic Good, he wouldn't knowingly screw his faction over, but sometimes uses questionable methods.
  38. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

I think you mean scum claws, not scum you? XD
No, I actually meant myself - I was trying to rationalise Claws's alignment by placing myself in his situation, and if I were scum, I wouldn't have pushed for VK as hard.
But obviously you know his playstyle better than me.
  39. Dreyski

Mafia 9: Sega vs Nintendo - The Race for the Next Generation

Well, that's a thing. I know I'm town, and I suspect Claws is as well, if only because scum Dreyski wouldn't push so hard on D1 becuase of the backlash. But then claws is claws.
Regardless of who goes, I'd be looking towards Insaner and Future as the other names on the Void train, especially when I flip/if Claws flips green.
Cast the die and lets see where we are at day end. And I am going to do what I can to stay in.

Just getting my head around Psycho's writeup style:

Little Jimmy from down the street was having trouble staying awake at school the next day because he stayed up all night playing Earthbound. Jimmy thought it was worth every second.
    Sounds like a roleblock

One person couldn't stop going on and on about Panzer Dragoon, taking up arms with it proclaiming that it will be a game-changer in the industry.
    Not sure. Doctor or motivator?

Shigeru Miyamoto was hard at work overseeing his top project, making sure to revert extra resources to get it done within a desirable timeline.
Did this cause the me/claws choice? Looking at the flavout, may also be a busdriver action

At a college AV club gathering, it's members were having a deep discussion about video game composers. One said it was an underrated part of the package, and that Koji Kondo’s work left him speechless.
Sounds an awful lot like a silencer action.

A kid goes into his local Blockbuster, looking at what games to rent. He picks up Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and contemplates. “Eh, I already beat this game.” He puts it back down and rents Shining Force II instead.
    ???

A small online community ran a poll to see what upcoming games its members were most excited about. There was a lot of talk about the console port of Virtua Fighter and how it would revolutionize the home fighting game market. It actually managed to reach second. But it was greatly outshined by #1, Super Mario 64. User TurboGrafxGuy76 said that “it’s no question! Super Mario 64 is going to absolutely kill the competition and VoidKitten is dead on arrival in comparison.” Everyone listens to TurboGrafxGuy76, and that became the narrative of the message board.
