    I’ve been on a scum team with Future. Getting him to post at all is a feat. I can’t imagine also trying to tell him what to say and be effective so that it still sounds like his voice. Blind was on that team, he should be able to attest to the same.

    This game has been brutal for me. The only person I am 100% on being town (other than me) is Claws. All of the rest of you ping me in one way or another just to varying degrees. :lol:

    I don't have anything concrete on anyone. But from a meta standpoint I have a hard time reconciling a scum Future under this much pressure still being here in the convo in an engaging manner - that would be an impressive leveling up of his play/skill compared to any game I've ever watched of his. If I turn out to be wrong I won't know whether or not to smack him or be proud of him or both and I'll owe him an apology for shading his competency.

    You specifically asked me my thoughts on a specific post and I gave it. I hardly think that’s the same thing as MTR trying to clear Future and then pairing the two of them together.

    I was pretty clear that I am open to calculations from more experienced players since I’ve never modded. But I was using the 30% guide I’d seen them talk about, fwiw. That’s why I was debating between 3 scum/1 SK or 4 scum/1 SK. 30% of 15 is 4.5. Rounding down is 4 hostile to town, rounding up is 5 hostile to town.

    He was quoting me but I think he misunderstood my post. I was trying to be clear that I was listing the visitors in the order that Claws gave them but that I didn’t know if the order Claws used was relevant (in my head the rest of that thought was “to Claws” but I understand why it was read differently).

    When read together (as if they were one post), I took it to mean that both scenarios were unlikely therefore at least one of the four had to be scum and that if all three wound claiming their actions failed that it would be “weird” (implying in my mind that somebody was lying). I believe this was right after both Future and Badger had said their actions were unsuccessful and they were speculating on what BN might have to say.

    Alright, @Badger, here’s my thoughts on Claws’ list.

    Claws - I’ve been townreading him, I’m still townreading him. Plus, I don’t think scum Claws would come in the way he did with his info.

    Future - Lean town. I feel like scum Future wouldn’t have come back to continue defending himself last night. Pressured scum Future freezes typically and at best switches to complete shitposting. The fact that he was still engaging at all in active discussion and defending himself makes me think town. He was also the first of BN/Badger/Future to volunteer that his action was not successful.

    Badger - I’m not completely sold on you but I like that you have been the most consistent poster and that even now you are trying to engage with everyone in an otherwise dead thread. No signs of you trying to lay low.

    Blind Ninja - of these 4 options the most Sus to me. I dislike that he keeps circling back to tinfoiling Claws as 3p - it just feels like a distraction technique to me. And I dislike his stance that I didn’t weigh in on MTR last phase when the ISO shows that to be untrue.

    If we go by my theory that Insaner was a scum kill then we have to decide if Listo was a 3p kill and that person is one of the people Claws saw or if we think there some hidden trigger from N1 that resulted in his death. I know I brought up the hidden trigger possibility but I have about convinced myself that’s just tinfoil and the most straightforward explanation is probably the correct one and he was killed by the 3rd party.

    Have we decided how many scum we think we’re hunting? We started with 15 people, right? So I’m thinking no more than 4 scum. But 4 scum plus a 3p/SK feels wrong (I am not an expert on game balance so someone tell me if I’m wrong). That makes me think we started with 3 scum, 1 3p, & 11 town. Which prolly means the purple character that showed up out of nowhere didn’t mean anything. If that’s correct, then with MTRs flip we are still looking for 2 scum and a 3p. Right?

    All three of us with the same alignment feels unlikely. The question for me is whether or not Future and I are both town or if he is, in fact, scum. I've shared the reasons I've been townreading him, however, his drop in activity doesn't make me feel great. But on the other hand, I feel like MTR flipping scum is not a bad look for Future. Especially given that how hard I see MTR hiding behind Future in retrospect.

    His lower activity is what has made it more difficult for me this game. Historically, what made him easy to read (for me, anyway) was that as scum he is prone to super corny/cheesy posts in an effort to look towny. I didn't think anything of his inactivity because I know he hates trying to use his phone to get on the forums and I knew that he was pretty much busy both last Saturday & Sunday between house stuff and the two-night Glory pro event. With the lower post count I didn't notice until Mazer put all of those posts together that he was basically trying to defend Future and then use that defense to make himself look town (basically, some people believe Future is town and we're doing the same things so you should totally read me town, too). That being said, I did notice that something still wasn't right and I did start pushing back on him as I worked through my post catch up.

    I'm not quite willing to commit to that. I agree that with three of us we *could* all be town. But to reiterate, I've been the most on the fence about you. Nothing I can put my finger on so that's why I haven't outright put you on my Sus list. But at the same time, I'm seeing lots of interaction from you to defend yourself, and Future, but not much by way of solving or identifying where else we should be looking.

    First stop, I wanted to revisit the write up because I only skimmed it on my phone.

    The ogre Otto stood at high alert for even the most subtle movements, sensing even the vibrations of the air. It was a little known talent of Ogres - though maybe it wouldn’t be if people stopped assuming they were nothing but dumb pummeling monsters.

    All the excitement made poor old Schultz exhausted, so he decided to turn in early. He fluffed his pillow and settled down, promising to get back into the action tomorrow.

    I seem to remember Insaner (maybe?) speculating that CWE was Schultz. Clearly that can't be the case.

    Bats fluttered around, he spotted Insaner and his little tiny bat stomach growled. He swooped down and in a scene that more closely resembled a cartoon piranha attack, Insaner was gone.

    With Bats showing as red that makes me think that Insaner was the mafia kill. It seems crazy that they would be able to perform two kills that keeps the target from flipping, though.

    Leaving me to think that Listo's death was likely from another source. I'm not necessarily sold on it being from the yellow 3p, though. Antwerp is shown as moving "closer to town."

    In the center of town the Hero meandered doing Hero things one moment, and then the next he fell over into the mud and stopped moving. “Huh, he lasted a whole two days longer than I’d expected.” Someone nearby mumbled, and with a shake of their head, continued on with their own business.

    I also notice this tidbit, though. "Two days longer than I'd expected." Could he have been poisoned on N1 and we just didn't see it in the write up? But usually at least the poisoner knows they've been poisoned, right? Why wouldn't he have said anything?

    Yesterday I did not love several votes. And now we have a food data point. On the 6 who voted for mtr, we have listo, 2 I feel good about, me, then Tildey and Insaner.

    Dreyski's vote may be dependent on Tildey.

    I don't love anyone who was holding off. BN did say that he was willing to vote, but held off for the quests, I guess? And then Insaner closed? I still don't love it. There is a pattern here though.

    There's a distinct pattern there where Future has been on EVERY bad vote, voted for mtr when it meant nothing, and then did not vote during the initial push or even after the dees came out. This almost strikes me as oversimple, but damn there's a distinct thread through mtr's posts and future's votes.



    I would love to get everyone's reads on this, and for Future to have a chance to check in on yesterday.

    I knew something was bothering me about some of MTR’s posts but couldn’t put my finger on it until your put all of those together. It was the consistent firm defense of Future. But not defending him for post content or activity or even style. Just basically for vibes or because “hey guys, Future’s just playing how I’m playing and I’m totally town.”

I want to know why he was so confident in mtr’s role - especially with him turning out to be right. I had to go back and check and we only saw that character act on N1. I guess it’s moot now - but my brain is going to be itchy until the game is over and I can find out.

    That's interesting. I would need to ISO to validate but I have felt a bit like you've been bouncing around between House members since D1 (with varying levels of reasoning). To me, its almost seemed like you were trying to take temperatures to see where you may be able to lay seeds for a mislynch.

    I've asked myself the same question, lol. Technically anything is possible, regardless of likelihood. However, there are fewer of us playing than usual so wouldn't that increase the possibility of all three of us randing town? I know I'm town and, so far, I've been consistently reading Future as town. Up to now, MTR hasn't sold me one way or the other. But I'm just now getting to his posts in the thread (I'm commenting as I'm reading) so we'll see if that stays the same.

    Despite CWE's possible dees, I'm still townreading you. Which just feels weird, but here we are. What little experience I have with you, I recall you being fairly fatalist when you rand scum. In all of the back and forth between you and Xan (and anyone else), I haven't really seen any evidence of that (minus these past couple of posts but I understand the frustration of feeling like nothing you say is being heard).     If you’re not participating and completing quests then you’re not earning gold. If you’re not earning gold then you (presumably)* can’t act. If you’re town and not acting then you’re not helping.

    * I say presumably because as 3pups has pointed out a few times we don’t know how the scum mechanic works and we don’t know if they need gold to do their kill.

    You’re absolutely correct. It’s not impossible. Hence my “for now” qualification earlier. (I think i said that, if not I meant to). That being said, it’s the relaxed feel combined with the evidence of skimming vs close reading that makes me lean town at the moment. He can be wiley, though, so I’m always open to changing my mind.
