    so looking back, i sent the whisper to future asking him to clarify what mtr said to convince him on foxxi around 11:30pm EST on 1/30. sent the 'hail hydra?' whisper to mtr roughly a half hour later at 11:57pm EST. absolutely nothing worthwhile was going on in the thread during that span. honestly, i think i may have been a bit tunneled on foxxi as town, so you pushing her enough to get future on board, i threw the whisper out there to test the water. reading scum chat and seeing you two being like WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING and now i can't even fully remember why i did it does amuse me a bunch.

    once the next day phase hit, i wasn't even thinking about a response from you to my whisper, tbh. i figured it was a long shot to actually pan out with any info, and if you were town there would be no need for you to respond. i checked my phone in the middle of my work day yestersday and saw that gif you sent back in response and this ensued.

    and followed that up with this. you wanted to keep using test faith to try and find cult, but say you had no real strategy or reason behind who you chose. why were you so willy nilly with one night action, but for the other it's sounding like you formed an actual reason not to use it?

    i think it should probably say 'night action.' the description does say '... the target of this ability,' which sounds like it needs to be chosen to use. it'd be a passive, otherwise.

    so the kill is unblockable, but what if someone tried to redirect you? like, you chose to jail foxxi d8. if someone targets you on n8 to redirect your actions to mtr, would you then find out your jailing mtr and have to go with it? or because the jail is a day action, it gets locked in during the day and can't be fucked with at night?

    so mtr got the foxxi result n6, came in and voted her right away d7, you jailed him n7, he came in d8 and threw his vote back onto foxxi on january 30th at 9:45pm EST, which was well before you had made the confirmation to void you were going to jail her n8. so he wasn't voting for her in order to create distance cause he knew you were jailing her and there was nothing they could do to save her if you decided to execute. that makes me believe it was a legit investigate result from an unconverted paladin.

    that's good, but also kinda stinks cause it means we can't use other potential cult night actions to rule people out.

    val is claiming wizard. if wizard converted, he becomes the ritualist, and has 4x night actions that either redirect or grant immunity to occupation. no way were those all used up, and i don't see a world where one of those doesn't get used on foxxi last night. the jail and execution went through, so if it was cult leader foxxi and ritualist val, i don't know what they had val do. maybe try and redirect cwe to someone, in case he uses his kill. but foxxi knows cwe doesn't lie, and cwe has said multiple times he's not using it and is playing true neutral, so she wouldn't be paranoid enough to make that decision.

    so yeah, i think i agree with you that val is town.

    i'm looking at everyone and the role they become if converted, and what actions they have, and see if i can cobble together how those actions might have been used the last few phases.

    butler and hunter both become invoker's, which again has a redirect night action and an occupy. again, i feel like one of these would have been used last night.

    that leaves xan and mtr.

    mtr becomes the seeker. at this point in the game, i don't know that the seeker's night actions are worth much. seeing who the prince is set to jail could be worth something, but if the cult leader is getting jailed, there's not exactly anything they can do to save them if the prince decides to execute.

    @FutureHold, when did you tell void you were going to jail foxxi? what's the timestamp?

    who is xan claiming? he says the info he's given could only come from the actions of one role, but i'm not putting it together.

    if grae had been converted, he'd be the invoker and has a redirect night action. he could have redirected mtr onto himself or anyone other than cwe and me, if he wasn't positive i would come up town.

    so future can confirm, but our whispers back and forth were me asking him what mtr said to make him sure on foxxi, him telling me it was the action result and feeling foxxi was acting weird. the last whisper future sent to me was him telling me he was going to jail foxxi and execute her that night. if i had an inkling that foxxi was cult, and i was cult king, i would try to not let that go through. i also likely wouldn't advocate for her offing herself on a grae execute.

    i am the good king. maybe even the best king.

    this is probably just a clerical error and void used the original color tagging around foxxi's name and her role, but her reveal was colored the orange of third party when it was first posted and is now edited to purple for the cult. i imagine her starting role was a neutral, but I SEENT IT and have to at least point it out.

    and good fucking work, future. like xan said, her flip doesn't really surprise me. i pretty much detailed out what likely happened awhile back, but the idea of her bleeding herself seemed like such a risky move that i convinced myself not to totally buy into it.

    what are the chances grae is cult and him and foxxi were playing the razor's edge again, like with the bleed? why does foxxi vote to hammer the pardon? if he did lose the revenge kill upon execution passive when converted, that may be why foxxi was fine with hammering his execute, knowing she'd survive, grae would flip cult and she'd get the town clout for putting her neck on the line.

    if we vote to execute grae and ANYBODY besides a confirmed non-convertable takes the chop by hammering, we:

    a) lose two blue dragon, which isn't great, but bring the pool of people to look at down to three. the cult leader is the n1 recruit and we know they likely used one charge of eradicate. it's possible they've used the other two and whiffed or only hit one of their targets. we know no cult member has been sacrificed, so they didn't get any re-up's on charges. so they may not be able to go for a double kill.

    we can play around with that and figure out night actions before pulling off the execute to try and protect who needs protecting or occupy who needs occupying in order to maximize the chances we make it to the next day phase. from there, we have three people to focus on, and it should be easier to parse out the behaviors of those three to come to a vote.

    b) we do the execute and sacrifice, one flips cult and we carry on. i don't know that grae's revenge passive on execution transfers upon conversion, so it's possible if we execute him and he flips cult, that we don't actually lose anybody.

    there's definitely tunnel vision on grae, but that's only really because there isn't much compelling about anybody else, either. we are getting nowhere at night. potentially useful info gathered at night has legit arguments against it because of mechanics. we can take the shot now, maybe it leads to a cult win, but continually pardoning and giving cult chances to double kill or recruit at night is just a slower form of defeat. we're not working a methodical parsing out of scum here, we're just constantly settling for inaction and then doing nothing when smacked in the face.

    so the only way for any kind of framed result is if we have a neutral scorned OR we had a noble/second mystic that got converted into the apostle.

    for scorned, with how it reads, i believe they choose a target and that person, if an investigative ability is used on them, will come up with a different result than their true alignment. so the scorned would have targeted foxxi at some point, never took the mark off her, and mtr eventually targeted her to get a framed result.

    the apostle targets the player with the investigative ability and turns the result they're given into a frame job.

    so i believe the starting king can only be good/unseen/cult, and in order to get a neutral or psycho king, a vote for a new king has to take place.

    if that's the case, I'm either good or cult. if im cult, i blatantly told people to protect a confirmed blue dragon and neutral before we hit night phase yesterday, which directly gets in the way of my win condition.

    though maybe i'm wrong and neutral or psycho king could be rolled from the start. if I'm neutral, my win condition is to survive, which means i'm not the one preventing the game from ending. if I'm psycho king, my win con is to kill everyone, and again, i asked for people to be protected yesterday. beyond that, kareemah says she occupied me n1. psycho king is immune to occupy actions, so she should have been told her action failed, which i don't believe she mentioned having happened.

    you are really spreading it around, and it doesn't feel like it comes from paranoia or ignorance.

    9 people left. 3 immune to conversion, at least two cult. that leaves, at most, 4 players flying in the wind. it's possible one of the 4 is a neutral and conversion immune, which would be nice, but im not counting on it.

    can't help but feel that pardoning of grae was a mistake. he was right on the cusp of execution, was granted a stay and immediately that night two blue dragon are offed.

    foxxi is right that we cant really afford to let people off. we have three conversion immune, at least, all with win conditions that favor, or don't conflict with, a blue dragon win. we've had multiple nights now where seemingly nothing is happening, besides maybe the cult recruiting somebody. we clearly can't rely on night actions to win us this game.

A risky gamble, but given that he's third party...he can't be relied upon. He'll side with any faction in order to win.

    Again, nobody with me has brought this up and it's frustrating because I'm hardly the smartest player around and I really want this sort of thing to be taken into account.

    claiming the drunk is fine, but had he been converted, his night actions essentially remain the same, with him being able to redirect a player to someone else or themselves. so him listing out his night actions all the way up to n5 means little cause he could legit just tell us what actions he did as the invoker and we won't know any better until either the people he cited flip or he does.

    also convenient that everyone he targeted were still alive at the time and none of them were confirmed as conversion immune.

    also says he basically chose at random, but n5 put the hunter's action on the observer, and the next day votes for her trial nomination despite getting more active, direct pushback from kareemah and future.

    on n2 the n1 recruit becomes cult leader and can't do anything besides eradicate. nobody died n2, so they either chose not to act, were blocked by the butler's serve wine action or whiffed on the targets and hit death immune or protected roles. n3 is the earliest badger could have been converted. if he was converted n3, then this past night phase(n5) was a potential recruit night, and given no one died, that would be the likely scenario unless a block or total whiff occurred, which feels unlikely. if badge was converted n3, then at most we have a cult leader(n1 recruit) and a n5 recruit.

    if the n3 recruit failed, that means badge was converted n4, the same night he was reaped by psycho, which left only the cult leader with no recruit charge for n5.

    unless all actions immediately recharge upon a new leader being promoted, which then fucks everything up cause that means a recruit was possible on n2.

    going off this breakdown, because there was a reaper, the sorcerer and possessor shouldn't be in the pool for the remaining neutrals, yeah? or do you think we're meant to read this as one guaranteed neutral killer and three to four other neutral roles from the list? i feel like balance-wise, it's likely the former.

    reaper was the neutral killer. alchemist, sellsword and fool as confirmed other neutrals, with the latter two dead already. that leaves us with cwe and possibly one other person as neutral, depending on how the roles broke down, since either the neutrals or blue dragons would get the extra player. if there were four neutrals, that then gives us a total of four living players who are immune to conversion(me, cwe, the prince and the final neutral). so that'd be a third of the player base guaranteed to not, or ever will, be cult.

    not accounting for possible dupes in roles, the only neutrals that could be in play are the inquisitor, the merc and the scorned.

    since badger converted to apostle, he was either the mystic or the noble. looking through his ISO, i don't have a feel for one over the other. when claws puts a vote on him, he says it's a really bad idea, which i read as him having a role with strong actions, and i'd consider the noble's actions as more important than the mystic. but then in an earlier reply to foxxi, he blatantly says 'it's a bit mistifying isn't it,' which feels pretty blatant now with hindsight.

    someone had to have been recruited n1 or else cult would've died after we executed claws. obviously wasn't badger or else he would've been cult leader from n2 onward and not apostle. so someone was recruited n1 and they are the current cult leader.

    badger initiated whispers with foxxi on d2, and foxxi hard defended badger against nominations that same day phase. badger eventually ends up as cult. that's a fun thread to tug on. she did take a hard stance against claws, who was cult leader at that point, putting a vote on badger by putting a vote on him, but she did eventually move her vote off him to matthieu, basically to prod activity. moved to diva next to do the same. was the fourth vote on claws as his train picked up steam, but had an easy out to not vote for him because of an error in the vote tally by void. there was enough spread on the nominations at that time that she didn't really need to jump onto claws for any tactical reason. we know she was bled, which could've only come from claws the cult leader or the hunter. obvs claws makes the most sense. if foxxi was successfully recruited n1, this would be quite the gamble; claws is on his way to being executed, foxxi is set to become the cult leader heading into n2 with no recruit charge. do they have claws bleed foxxi to construct a narrative and just have foxxi make some pleas for healing from any of the potential parties that could, hoping the case for her being blue dragon is strong enough that they will? she wouldn't die from the bleed until after n3, when the recruit action would recharge, but without the guarantee of a conversion. that's skating too thin of an edge, i think. so i'm inclined to lean foxxi was not the n1 recruit.

    we also have to take into account the one night cooldown on the ability upon a successful recruit and the fact the recruit attempt could fail. plus all neutral players are immune to conversion. it's obviously not gonna be easy, but i don't know that it's a perilous as it seems.

    he was immune to conversion and would revive if killed at night as long as he kept one soul available. probably figured if you were successfully recruited there wasn't much the cult could do to him, but an active cult could help to thin the herd for his win condition.

    mazer targetted foxxi n1. did he actually use eradicate, trying to kill foxxi and lora, but GOT GOT because of psycho's circle on foxxi? does that circle prevent foxxi's death if he was using eradicate? if not, she'd either need to be protected or death immune. her being a protection target n1 is reasonable.

    if he was trying to recruit, either it failed and they got a rando, it failed and they got foxxi or it worked and they got foxxi. would psycho's circle kill mazer off and cancel the brainwash attempt?

    psycho claiming knight means he could have been recruited and is the invoker. if he was targeting badger n4, it would likely be chaining him to prevent him from acting.

    badger, if able to speak, would be able to tell us if he was blocked n4, which means silencing him come d5 would be a decent plan of action...

    little over 16 hours. i believe the silence timers start the moment the mod gets the action, so it's possible there was a delayed beginning to the timer and badger just happened to not speak before the silence was submitted and seen by the mod.

    if badger has been silenced instead of reaped, he'll be able to speak during the trial phase, which will help inform what we should do. if psycho gets the nom and stands trial, and badger never shows up, it'd be hard not to go through with the execute. if badge does show up, and psycho is on trial, we likely gotta pardon and turn our attention elsewhere.

    the only way badger was silenced by cult was if there was a successful recruit n3/n4 and it was the butler who was recruited, thus converting them to the invoker.

    for what it's worth, i would have voted to execute claws last night. missed the hammer by 28 minutes.

    getting the cult leaders back to back is fantastic.

    i think mazer would be a recruit over a kill kinda guy for n1. recruiting n1 gives the pick of the litter, and if it went to RNG, the pool is wide open and you avoid the possibility of a strong player(and possible recruit) being taken out that same night. the odds just feel better, and i eagerly await seeing mazer's han solo gif response to this after the game ends.
