Day 1 start New
Every year, there is a general meeting between Pokémon League Members, being Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and anyone else involved.

It was quite the usual until an announcement was made.

There are Mafia Members within the Gym Leaders.

The panic was instant, Elite four members, Champions were rushed out, leaving just the Gym Leaders who were suspects of being Mafia.

Some Gym Leaders grouped up for safety, trusting who they assumed was safe.

Even if what you thought you knew about a fellow Gym Leader could be false.

DAY 1 HAS STARTED.
ENDS IN 48 HOURS.

I have been playing for a decade and I think I have only ever once or twice seen someone claim that they were able to find a secret message by adding up the first letter of each post a player made or something ludicrous like that.

I'll be pissed if I get killed early again. I am not at all familiar with the franchise.

I haven't played a game where the dead get one post after death. This should be helpful, and I want to remind everyone to please use it in case they only skimmed/skipped the rules.. Our best chance to win is by sharing info. I guess this is kind of like a will, but it seems we have the ability to compose it AFTER we find out we're dead.

Also, I'd like to ask the group about what "voting hammer" means, in practise. If I recall, hammer means that once someone reaches majority needed to yeet, the day ends. Otherwise, we continue to post until the day ends, which seems to be 1PM eastern. Generally, we don't have info on Day 1 so we usually will get a few people voting, but we eventually / mostly seem to end up on sleep / no action.

The shit posting is sometimes amusing, but often the 48 hour days tend to seem drawn out, unless we get someone talkative. But early talkative people tend to get themselves killed. Those who tend to lurk, or contribute the bare minimum, seem to skate by.

Is there a reason we wouldn't want to vote hammer? Would we need to vote it for each day, or is it only needed once, and would last the duration of the game? I suppose if there are vote shenanigans in play, like vote stealing or vote doubling, etc. hammering could be more/less important.

Night chat is also permitted. I seem to recall this is generally seen as a minor advantage for us, as the scum team won't be the only ones who are potentially able to coordinate their action(s). The best part about night chat is we will most likely get to see both sober and drunk CWE after all.

My current worry is what Handy's note about his last game being "incredibly town-sided" means. I expect some bastardity - is that a word - but I fear he may have overcompensated in this game, to make it much worse for us.

Has anyone else played in a Handy-run game before? Do we expect write ups to help us figure things out?

Game relevant info is not allowed within that post.

Hammer is enabled for the day it is voted for.

My first hosted game is on Bulbagarden's 'The War Room', same name as this one.

Rule says the one post after death cant be game related, so this wont really help solve.

With 13 people, we couple potentially have 7-10 votes on someone before deadline, 7 would end the day normally if hammer is in play. But if people unvote, or shift votes, that person sitting above the hammer threshold could be spared.

typically, night chat is also something to just keep people thinking about the thread and not game related stuff.

this is Handy's 2nd game as a host and I doubt any of us are on their other site. 9-3-1 is the town/scum/3p breakdown. Hard to tell how this will be skewed. could all depend on what kind of role the 3p is and if they town or scum side.

Tradition. Likely not staying there.

Do we have to activate hammer each day? Do we need simple majority to turn hammer on?

So if I'm understanding correctly, if we don't vote for hammer, it's just whoever has the most votes by deadline, right?

And if we vote hammer after someone has already reached majority, the phase would end right there, right?

Also, if the first line is true, does that mean activating hammer means that we HAVE to have a hammer for a chop to go through, or would the person with most votes still die regardless?

If you genuinely think someone is scum then there's no reason not to vote for them. Assuming you're correct, it'll help save lives.

Okay time for me to Tag out and have my parter take it from here. He'll be around in about an hour or so.

:mwahaha:

I deliberately waited an extra hour because I'm not some fucking puppy for you to just summon whenever you want...

VOTE COUNT

(1) Future Hold - MTR (6)
(1) Blind Ninja - Val (8)
(1) Matthieu - Blind Ninja (22)
(1) Psycho - CWE (26)

(1) HAMMER - Val (16)

With 13 players alive, majority for hammer activation is 7.

If you mean collectively than we should manage.
I'm just here to answer questions, phase changes and vote counts so not collectively

DAY 1 ENDS IN 28 HOURS AND 50 MINUTES

I don't have the energy, so who wants to give my "day one matters!" rant for me? Now accepting applications!

There was no pretending. I remembered yesterday but I didn't feel like actually posting until I could sit down today :D

OK... quick count shows 11 people, including Handy have replied to the thread... so 3 players have yet to check in. Now to figure out who those slackers are.

3puppies exudes scum with that post, but I also tend to always read his long posts and scummy and have caused his death multiple times.

The icky part of it is the first line

The disjointed nature of the post felt scummy to me. Not sure why he plopped all thoughts into 1 post with it being all over the place. Def something that could have been done over multiple posts.

Ah

Well then

Vote: Hammer

I am going to hammer all day everyday so no worries. But sure dead mod. If you could write an essay how hammer works it would be neat. Cause i seriousy have no idea XD

Is your intention with voting hammer to bring the game more in line with what we are used to playing?

To all:

How do people feel about hammer not being in effect, unless we turn it on? Does it give you vibes, one way or another, towards people wanting to have hammer available?

So if noone votes hammer someone with most votes is out but with hammer we need majority or just other way around. Thats last thing I am missing

Hammer automatically ends the phase when majority is reached, without hammer, the person with the most votes at the end of the day (1pm est tomorrow) is voted

tldr: Day will run for the entire length without hammer

Ok so last time so i get it.

Noone votes hammer. Day runs entire duration. Top voted is say on 5 votes. Do they die or thats sleep?

My initial thought is I like it. Can't have anyone go "oops, didn't realize we were that close" -- it would have to be a conscious choice to end the day early by the group.

That said, this group is so passive that asking people to make *two* choices in a day might be a asking too much - so it's very unlikely to be "hey, we're ready to yeet this fucker into the sun, yeah? Let's do it!", and much more likely people will either turn it on before we even have a yeet choice made, or not turn it on at all 🤷‍♀️

And vibes on people wanting it or not, eh. I'm sure I'll have some in more specific situations where it feels like there's possible motivations one way or another but atm it's all just a big blob of whatever

I will be shocked if we ever get hammer enabled :D

Though really, all it is, is a way for us to end the day earlier on our terms (assuming a majority of people are around).

I really feel like this is NAI for puppies. Every single game, especially ones with post minimums, he makes a massive post like this to start off the days.

I still hate the first line

I thought it would be spectacular but so far looks like a dud.

Maybe it would take a while to wind-up ;>
I kinda wanna give CWE a restriction where he can only talk to Sober/Drunk CWE. All posts have to be pointed at his other half and can't directly answer something someone else said without making it seem like a conversation between his halves.

Okay @FutureHold where are you. I had a migraine after work so that is my excuse for last night but after you did your star wars thing after work you could have been in here posting. :squint:

There are like 47 good roles in handiums universe, i am sure one of them can do that. But you seem to salty to have roled that ;p

I am at work, and have been distracted with more phone calls this week than I usually get in a month. I usually don't post from my phone as I have a hard time without a keyboard. This is why I hate the min post count games (aside from my missing most weekend times), because if I think I contribute more toward discussion in one long post then several others will post by simply copying others, or posting one-word answers.

I think we will get to hammer, especially if/when we have deets. My question - poorly phrased -was whether folks think this mechanism makes it MORE likely that we have a vote thief, double voter or double vote granter, blind voter, or other voter shenanigans to think about.

My first line was "I'll be pissed if I get killed early again." I hate the fact that I was killed early the last couple of games, the reason given was that I was too obviously a townie. I don't get to play every game and this one took a while to get enough people to join. So yeah, maybe I sound paranoid but if I get killed again early, yes, I will be pissed.

Its scummy all over :>

This felt more scummy to me.

The degenerate in me wants to vote for 3puppies solely because of how mad he'd get if he got yeeted :D

I will resist the temptation however.

Only thing this says is please post more then mod. Isnt a min post game. And 5 posts in a phase is hardly something challenging.

And your one large post isnt usually this disjointed.

I think we only need to do hammer once and it was already done. Unless I am reading wrong so we don't all need to keep doing it.

You are 100% reading wrong.

It is two votes per day. One for elim and one for if you want to enable hammer.

Now you do not need to re-vote hammer if you swap your vote. But yeah, if we want to end day with majority, we need to vote for that additionally.
