Mafia 33 - Gym Leader Mafia

You are 100% reading wrong.

It is two votes per day. One for elim and one for if you want to enable hammer.

Now you do not need to re-vote hammer if you swap your vote. But yeah, if we want to end day with majority, we need to vote for that additionally.
Yeah reading again I see that. I just thought I read that it was activated. I need to go back to school.

ah, claws has appeared.

Okay @FutureHold where are you. I had a migraine after work so that is my excuse for last night but after you did your star wars thing after work you could have been in here posting. :squint:
I forgot.

I can explain, first, I turned off all my notifications to this site so that you and Tildey don’t accidentally gain info from reading them on accident or whatever, and the sign up took forever that I just thought the game would never start. Also I’m planning a huge international trip, give me a break

Now that is out of the way, I am feeling very pressured with all these votes, I know that’s the point but I guess I can attempt at Day 1 reads if that’s what you want

Just turn off emails for private messages. That is what I did. I don't have access to your email on my phone anymore anyway. Yeah yeah yeah act like you are going out of the country by yourself for like two weeks or something.

It may just be coincidence, but for future to pop up and respond to MTR's "where are you" ping specifically with the response that he has all notifications turned off doesn't brain jive to me. X.x if they off... how he get ping? >.>

Eh...I guess I can see it being coincidence he just logged in and noticed, and then replied to the most recent ping from his dad. It's not implausible anyway.

@FutureHold come back here and give me something better to read you on

I am in the mood to shoot someone the way work is going instead of voting. Anyone have a gun I can borrow. I promise to not shoot you.

Sounds like too much effort

Should Future and MTR both be modkilled, for having an outside conversation? Maybe just double secret probation. I'm guessing maybe Future won't know the reference

Is your intention with voting hammer to bring the game more in line with what we are used to playing?

It would imagine that it would be most beneficial for town to have hammer enabled during the early game, when the town has the highest number of players compared to the scum team. The relatively smaller scum team will be less effective at logging in at the same time and swinging the leading train off of their people if they are about to get lynched. Once we start reaching lategame, hammer might work better in scum's favor because there will be fewer town players left, meaning an organized scum team swinging all of their votes will be far more impactful. No hammer could stop them from doing that and getting away with it, and they would have to better justify why they are all changing their votes in the game thread.

This is why I think there's going to be vote shenanigans.

But hammer doesn't negate the fact that it's still the person with the most votes gets yeeted. So dareIask, what happens if say there's an 11 way tie at one each, with 2 nonvoters? Does everyone who has a vote get yeeted, or will it be a rand among all of them?

While thats an interesting proposition, we usually start to consolidate to 2-5 people with 12-24hrs left in the day. I dont forsee an 11way tie being a problem

I really like this thought out approach.

My concern about it was more towards end game and a scum team being able to rush a vote. Didnt take into account how beneficial it could be for town early game.

I have been playing for a decade and I think I have only ever once or twice seen someone claim that they were able to find a secret message by adding up the first letter of each post a player made or something ludicrous like that.
I don't know why people do that.
Honestly, it often leads to confusion.
A lot of people don't even type properly which doesn't help matter.
Very confusing when you have to wade through a sea of typos.
Everything just sort of adds up into complete chaos.
A good eye can usually spot such mischief regardless, though.
Between you and me I think some people get carried away.
I also thing it's often cover for actual contributions of note at times.
Gentle reminders or not, though, we should always be constructive in our posts.
Darn, I think I lost my train of thought...
I hope I can be forgiven for that.
Clueless ventures are often the name of the game, though.
Kicking the can down the road a bit, though, if you had to pick three players to consider scum who would they be and why?

Grae idk what to say
Are you ok thats not like you
Yup im clearly the best

Yeah I am not quite understanding how there can be vote shenanigans.
You and me both here. While Val probably isn't evil because of his considerations, it makes no sense.

All the "hammer" is, is allowing us to end the day instantly when majority is reached, you know, like a normal game, instead of making the game play out the entire day.

With hammer enabled and 5 people left, 3 votes ends day immediately.

Without hammer enabled and 5 people left, 3 votes ends the day at end of day lol.

All that said, the only possible vote shenanigans would be to quickly enable hammer and vote someone out, but that would literally happen in a normal game anyway.

This is clearly flavor claiming and you should be modkilled.

I am pretty sure Crackle cyphered Cop in my literal first game I played and got me rekt.

I'm pretty sure Val himself pulled that trick at some point. But this should surprise exactly no one because: Val

XD

If I had to hazard a guess based off past pups interactions, I'd wager he is connecting the concept of preventing a hammer accidentally to mean that there could be reasons to not just have day end when maj is reached like normal.

IE: getting to see a vote count that shows maj has been reached when people may not expect it should be, or

that they think it should have been but day didn't end if hammer is on that gives info.

Personally I just think Hand is from a place where hammer sometimes isn't auto on and he's incorporating that here - it may or may not have anything to do with how that would interact with vote modifiers -- but it's not uncommon for pups to question if some new rule tweak has deeper meaning. It's also NAI.

This is kind of what I am getting at. As I am trying to understand how this works, I will toss around ideas that I think it might mean, in case the rest of y'all have seen something similar.

But I am trying to make sense of the following - if all we get by hammering is the day ending, does that really mean much when we have night chat enabled every night? As I recall from some discussion in another game, when night chat is enabled, it lessens the advantage that scum otherwise has to coordinate their actions, especially when say there might have been a surprise event like scum ending the day early. So, does that mean we are more or less likely to expect vote shenanigans?

Thank you for explaining that Handy comes from a place where hammer isn't auto on. In the past I have put far too much energy into some theories and it often turns out not to be nearly as important as I what I imagined it could have been. And as I ponder this, suspecting that there might be vote shenanigans is not the same as knowing what they are, nor how and when they might be used, and on whom.

How does night chat lessen scums ability to communicate and coordinate their actions? They chat in their own thread/PMs/etc... they dont need game night chat to do anything.

Not to mention, what does that have to do with day ending early?

You still havent explained why you truly feel vote shenanigans are in place just because we have the ability to turn hammer on/off.

VOTE COUNT

(2) Future Hold - Grumpycat (75), Foxxi (103), Blind Ninja (190)
(2) Blind Ninja - Val (8), Claws (113)
(1) Psycho - CWE (26)
(1) Grumpycat - 3puppies (79)

(4) HAMMER - Val (16), Grumpycat (43), Claws (76), 3puppies (79)

With 13 players alive, majority for hammer activation is 7.

DAY 1 ENDS IN 38 MINUTES
Mistake or intentional?

Honestly don't want to see either Future or BN go. But do we have enough people around to go somewhere else?
