Mafia 38 - Trouble Brewing

Does it not make more sense to take out someone who is not contributing at all? Along with that, I will say I am genuinely surprised that I was not taken out as Blind Ninja wasn't wrong to criticise my lack of meaningful contribution so far.
 
Darkness descended, and this time the villagers were certain it was actually night. Maybe? Probably. They were going to bed either way though damnit.

Night Four Deadline Thursday 8am est
 
The sun creeps over the horizon and the villagers leave their homes preparing to face the new day. All except one. CWE is found dead.

It is now Day Four. The message system remains the same. Day Four deadline Saturday 11th @ 8am est. With 8 living players 5 votes are needed to eliminate.
 
We have 8 living players.

But presuming 3 of these are evil, and NQM hasn't participated at all, that means we really only have 4.

And we need 5.

I don't like our chances.

Especially when we have failed to execute anyone.

Even if we execute someone, and it happens to be the demon, that would drop us to 7 players, so if there's a Scarlet lady she will become the demon.

We lost CWE, who was either a drunk, or a fortune teller. And he certainly could have been poisoned.

Who do you suggest we take out? Is there a reason you did not vote for Psycho - when even he agreed that we need information and he was willing to vote himself?

Listo shared their role with me, and as I recall, Listo voted. I don't know if I believe it.

The private chats were removed, so yes, I forgot. At this point, does the reasoning still hold? Since we haven't gotten any information from an execution, what do you think about Claws potentially being involved in sharing safe roles with others on the evil team?

Kind of makes me think if there is a point for me to use my last vote before final 4 just to get demon that will be replaced by scarlet.

Hasn't made a single post (unless I'm mistaken), yet is almost certainly doing something at night since she hasn't been taken out for inactivity. Everybody else has different degrees of activity to at least be bringing something to the table.

I'm not really feeling either Psycho or Claws as the way to go. Neither of them have come across as particularly suspicious to me this time around.

Not sure how would taking someout for inactivity be anything beneficial to the mod.

Call it a hunch. I have no real evidence to support it beyond a gut feeling, but we've certainly had games before where someone on a scum team has just cruised by during the day phases and causing trouble at night without ever really being held accountable.

Beyond that, since the player in question isn't contributing at all then if we do take someone else out today and go into the next day phase, it leaves us in a significantly weaker position if the trend continues.

It seems futile to nominate Matthieu or Psycho again. Neither got the votes before, so expecting to get enough votes now is unlikely.

It is certainly possible. Claws would have known your role, and had chatted with someone I had passed info along to. Claws also could be the Poisoner, where he would have known he HAD to poison you again. It is the passing of information that makes me think at least one of Claws and/or BN have to be bad. And on the chance Claws is bad and executed, a potential chance remains that we might get information after execution.

BN's vote NO on Claws right now is telling. It could be that he either doesn't believe me, or that he doesn't believe that the evil communicated their safe roles via private chat. Or, it could mean that he is evil himself, in cahoots with Claws. Everything BN and Claws have done seems to have been to prevent town from getting a successful execution, to prevent the possibility of learning something.

One other possibility, of course, is that Grumpy was evil, and was killed randomly if the demon targeted the mayor, Psycho.

Which brings me to @PsychoSoldier - do you think the evil group targeted you? What do you think about the likelihood that evil communicated the safe roles on D1?

If my nomination of Claws fails, I won't be able to nominate again this day phase, so please go ahead and nominate her. I think she is the virgin, so if you are town, nominating her will mean you die and the day ends.
 
I need explained to me how bn and myself have "prevented town to get a successful execution" while youve nominated ppl i have at least already expressed that i wont vote yes on them im not gunna all of a suddenly be like sure bub.
 
Ok, I'm just gonna try to go through the thread again, track all the messages and claims, and see if I can make sense of everything going on mechanically and then just Occam's Razor somewhere, because I know I've been a limp fish this game

There's certainly a chance I was the n1 kill and MTR was either a minion or a demon and we have a scarlet lady. By the time Grumpy was killed, I had been nominated and had heat so they probably wouldn't kill me that night, so that probably clears Grumpy.

So in that sense, our culprits should be just be Xan, Blind, and MTR

I won't lie, I had this thought, and it's why I do want to go back and try to verify all claims and stuff and see if I feel any way about CWE being the drunk or poisoned

Did 3pups know CWE was a fortune teller that night? I don't remember if CWE claimed his role that early or not

Mmm, well wait. If CWE isn't the drunk, then Xan is and can't be evil. Because CWE would have an valid inno claim on 3pups, who would have a legit "A drunk in Xan/CWE" claim. Otherwise, CWE is the drunk and all bets are off

It's also possible CWE is legit and was poisoned the night he investigated 3pups. Which would open up the possibility that CWE was mostly right, Xan could still be scum, and 3pups suspicion jumps back up

I dunno, let me try to sort my head out in some way

This just means that the people CWE investigated are not the demon, but doesn't mean they're not minions, right?

Claws, you know what's sad? I don't even remember your claim. I only got to read it in my notifications preview and by the time I went to actually read it, the chat was gone lol

I guess in that case it's still relevant because it's the demon we need to kill to win. So unless there's a Scarlet Lady we somehow missed after MTR's death, then the demon would still be in Xan/Blind

Grumpy claimed to me that he was the Empath, and said that neither me nor Claws are evil. He told me this before he and Claws had their own private chat.

I had wondered about the chance Grumpy and Claws were perhaps in cahoots, or if Grumpy had been poisoned, in which case the false info might have been that Claws was not nice. If Grumpy had been poisoned, then he still would have been given his role before the game play started, so based on his death, I am confident he was telling the truth.

Town needs to share information, and there are roles out there which have not shared.

@Foxxi , can you please clarify the amended again private chat rules? We can chat a total 3 times, but does that include dead players? I would like a private chat with Grumpy and MTR, but not necessarily if both count against my 3 in total. And does the private chat still end after 1/2 the day phase? I presume we request the private chat on our private discord channel? How will we know someone has requested a private chat with us?

@GrumpyCat and @MTR , do either of you want to respond publicly? It would potentially save me one of my 3 chats.

I have been thinking about this way too much. It occurs to me that if everyone has a plausible / safe town role, it is very likely that the demon and minions communicated about it. But there wasn't really that many private chats going on, especially those that did not involve me, and I know I am either the librarian or the drunk myself. So I am looking at Claws.

BN had privately shared info with me about the results he found out about his role as washerwoman. BN may or may not be involved, but I am wondering why Claws has not been forthcoming about his role while everyone else has claimed. If Claws was the poisoner or the demon, he'd know who his team was, who got poisoned, and what info could be shared.

BN only talked with me, Grumpy and Claws. Claws talked with Listo, BN, and Psycho

The fact that Claws refuses to vote at all, and has done nothing to help town, bugs me the most.

There very likely is a poisoner out there, and it certainly could have been used on Grumpy and CWE.

This is probably a pointless effort on my end, but I'd had to say I didn't at least try my hardest to get info out there.

Yeah, looking at this again, for someone who's been so focused on the mechanics, I find it odd that 3pups was so quick to throw Grumpy's check on Claws out the window. And now that I'm reading exactly how it works, like Grumpy said, he would have checked Claws 2 nights in a row and I struggle to believe Grumpy was poisoned 2 nights in a row

Finally, we are getting the solvy Psycho. I think this is right for public claims. I don't believe Claws publicly claimed before today.

Listo and Xan have both told me their town roles, but I didn't chat with them before D2. Listo talked with Claws on D1.

What are your thoughts about Grumpy or BN potentially being poisoned or evil? Same with everyone else?

On D1 and D2, we were permitted private chats, with no limit on the messages. I will dig up what I kept track of - but I don't have access to discord on my phone so I can't see my notes now

Starting D3, Foxxi changed the message rules to put in limits.
 
It means that if you look at pic with names in circles there are no 2 evils that are next to each other.

Except if one is a spy i guess. Becaue they dont show as evil.

A spy might show as evil, but it would depend on the whim of the mod.

So, for example, if Claws is the spy, your empath would not have to have been poisoned at all, let alone twice
 
Do you think executing an evil helps town? I will concede that if it is not the demon, it will not end the game for us, but it not only helps in the vote count going forward, there's also potential information to be learned.

Do you agree that it is much more likely than not that evil communicated?

you keep calling me scum but we havent had a single execution and most of them im either working or im raiding or sleeping and i got real prios other then this so /shrug its a team game the teams not comming together at an appropaite time cant blame me for that
 
So crazy idea. Foxxi almost rarely will give someone a specific role. Has she done it before yes. But with this being 1st time in this section I highly doubt it.
